Randall County Court Calendars Explained
No single Randall County calendar answers every court-date question. The 47th, 181st, and 251st District Courts, plus the District IPV Court, post selected notices on their own county pages. The District Clerk quick links include a criminal jail plea calendar. County Courts at Law, justice courts, and municipal courts run through their own coordinators and clerks. The Tyler public-access portal and re:SearchTX can display hearing data. A recent reset may leave both behind.
Those district court numbers matter more than you'd think. Match the number on your notice before trusting any setting. CCL1, CCL2, JP1, JP4, JP4A, Amarillo Municipal Court, and Canyon Municipal Court each follow a separate contact path.
Randall's Dated Calendar Files
The county DocumentCenter keeps older court notices searchable. That helps and misleads in equal measure. One criminal jail plea calendar there dates to March 2020 and shows a judge-rotation grid. Treat it as an example of local calendar format, never as a current schedule. Other PNC notices carry a court and event date of their own.
Date check: Read the notice date, event date, court number, and location before acting. An official PDF can be genuine and still be obsolete.
Put the latest court page, portal entry, and coordinator response side by side before you act. An old PDF is not today's docket just because a search engine still surfaces it.
Finding Your Randall Court Date
Start with the newest paper the court sent you. It usually names the court, cause number, event type, and place. Next, check the official Randall Tyler public portal. If that turns up nothing usable, call or visit the right clerk. A mailed inquiry suits record research. It moves too slowly for an urgent date question.
- Read the court name and cause number on the latest notice.
- Check the Randall County portal for the newest setting entry.
- Check re:SearchTX for a district hearing when needed.
- Call the clerk or coordinator for the named court.
- Visit the clerk counter when identity, access, or an unindexed file requires it.
- Check a current posted or printed calendar at the court, if available.
Calling does not count as an appearance and does not move a date. Only the court can confirm a valid change.
Randall Court Contact Paths
For district matters, the county directory lists the 47th District Court at 806-468-5677. The 181st sits at 806-468-5559. The 251st is 806-468-5563. The District Clerk answers at 806-468-5600, CCL1 at 806-468-5551, and CCL2 at 806-468-5670. When you call, give the cause number, party name, court, and event type.
The District IPV Court lists its coordinator at 806-468-5520. Amarillo Municipal Court answers at 806-378-3082, and Canyon Municipal Court at 806-655-5023. For a JP case, dial the precinct printed on the citation or notice. The current county directory lists JP1, JP4, and JP4A.
Read a Randall Court Setting
A Randall County court setting should tell you more than a date. Look for the court or district. Check the judge if stated, the time or session, and the courtroom or other location. The cause number and event type belong there too. Party and attorney labels may appear where public. A status line and notice date help you judge whether the entry is still current.
| Court | The district, CCL, JP, or municipal court that controls the setting. |
|---|---|
| Date and time | The listed start date and session, subject to later court change. |
| Location | A courtroom, Justice Center suite, jail, or approved remote setting. |
| Setting type | PNC, arraignment, pretrial, motion, temporary orders, trial, or another event. |
| Cause number | The unique case identifier used to avoid matching the wrong matter. |
| Notice date | The issue or update date that helps expose an old calendar. |
A calendar entry only schedules an event. It does not prove the event happened or that a final order was signed.
Randall Jail Hearing Locations
Here is a major local trap. Several Randall County plea-negotiation notices put district criminal settings at the Randall County Sheriff's Office Jail, 9100 S. Georgia Street, Amarillo. That is not the Justice Center in Canyon. The record counter and the hearing site can sit miles apart. Confirm the location on the newest notice before you drive.
The 251st District Court page also links jail PNC and IPV docket material. A court video or livestream link, where available, only lets you observe. It does not replace attendance instructions or the filed court record.
Randall Continuances and Resets
The vocabulary matters. A reset moves an event to another date. A continuance is a court-authorized postponement. A cancellation removes a listed event without necessarily ending the case. Any of these can land after an earlier PDF or docket printout was made, which is why the current coordinator or clerk is the practical source for the authoritative setting.
Hold the old notice until the new date is confirmed. Ask whether an amended notice or signed order exists, and write down which court you contacted. A payment receipt, an informal message, or a portal error is not proof that a Randall County court date changed.
Randall Setting Type Terms
Local calendar labels run short. Read them in context so a scheduled step is not mistaken for the end of a case.
- PNC
- Plea-negotiation conference, a criminal setting that does not itself prove a plea or outcome.
- Docket call
- A session used to address multiple cases and their readiness or next steps.
- Pretrial
- A setting before trial for motions, status, scheduling, or case management.
- Temporary orders
- A family or civil hearing on interim terms while the case remains pending.
- Disposition
- The recorded outcome, which should be checked against the signed order or judgment.
If a notice leaves an abbreviation undefined, ask the court. Never guess from another court's calendar.
Randall Municipal Date Conflicts
Two municipal courts sit inside Randall County, and neither one runs on the county's docket. Canyon's Municipal Court page currently lists all municipal trials and dockets as canceled until further notice. Questions go to court@canyontx.gov. Some older city FAQ text still talks about normal hours and virtual hearings, but treat the cancellation notice as the word that counts until the city says otherwise.
Amarillo Municipal Court handles its own walk-in and virtual settings through its city pages. For a Class C case, check your date with the city itself rather than guessing from a Randall County district search. A city payment portal can tell you a citation exists, yet it won't confirm what the live hearing calendar shows.
If You Miss a Randall Setting
Reach out to the named court right away. Give staff the cause number, your full name, the date you missed, and the type of setting it was. Ask what the docket reflects now and whether the court has issued a new notice or order. Missing a date does not mean the case was dismissed, and a phone call to the clerk does not cure a missed appearance either.
Act promptly: A missed setting can have case-specific consequences, including a warrant in some lower-court matters. Only the court can state the current status and required next step.
Pull up your entry through the Randall County case lookup, then confirm the response with the clerk or coordinator before you act on it. Court staff can't interpret your rights. For that, talk to a qualified attorney.
Confirm Randall Dates Before Travel
The District Clerk and the district courts work out of the Justice Center at 2309 Russell Long Boulevard in Canyon, though some jail settings happen in Amarillo. County office hours won't tell you when a courtroom sits. Holiday closures and court-by-court changes are tracked separately. The county publishes no full guide covering visitor parking, security, or closures.
Before you drive over, verify the building, suite or room, date, time, court number, and any remote instructions. Bring your notice and cause number with you. That quick check keeps an old calendar or the wrong courthouse from costing you a Randall County court setting.
